Still Small Voice

A murmur from the crowd —
Raging awful sound

Cold and bold, growing louder
Stoked by fear uncontrolled —

Shouts of doubters who were sold
False narratives
Foretold —
Impending doom

Imperative truth among raucous
A still small voice still speaking veracity
To those who will listen

Nothing to Fear but Fear Herself

She wore a black hood; black as night, dark as death, so she could hide among the shadows in the alley, the blind spots behind lampposts, and in the corners of your room. When your heart missed a beat, and your breath wouldn’t come, know that fear had stolen them for herself.

In The End

She chokes back the tears
As she chokes on her fears
And regrets
The love that she felt she forgets
The sun sets in her eyes
Over the lies
There were plenty
At times she believed many
But what she got was empty
What she couldn’t see
She can now see clearly

A River Flows

A river flows into the streets

Blood flows from weakened heartbeats

A dry and fragile earth gets the rain it seeks

It comes and does not cease

Asylum seekers seeking peace

Find floods of hateful policies

And resistance pouring into the streets

Tears pouring from fears growing and rights deceased

A river flows into the streets

Its ebb and flow a forced release

It will not be stopped or policed

Until it meets its destiny

Biggest Fear

All I want is for you to be near
I try not to wonder how long you’ll be here
So many things in life cannot be controlled
I only want to hold you until we grow old
Losing the one I love is my biggest fear
