The wind and rain raged.
I screamed into the storm, “You will not have me!”
Lightning flashed, and the thunder replied mocking me. I shivered from the cold drops on my skin like darts.
Sirens howled, too close to ignore. Trees bent to touch the ground and leaves lifted into a spin around me.
Papa took my hand and ran toward the shelter.
I saw the twister bearing down on top of us, just as the door closed.
With it now locked, we settled in the back and lit a candle.
You will not have me, not tonight, I thought.

A powerful, tense story in so few words. Nicely done.
So glad to have you joining in the Challenge. I hope you come back again. ~ Tara
